Taking a break from caring
Our Adult Disability Services team runs our short-break service. They provide opportunities for a carer to take a break from their caring role.
We have 8 short break services across Lancashire.
They have a 24-hour support 7 days per week throughout the year. The accommodation is modern, well-equipped and designed for safety and easy use.
Who can use the service
If you meet our eligibility criteria, are aged 18 and over, and have a disability.
What the short-break service provides
Gives the carer the opportunity to take a break.
Options to join a wide range of activities.
Support for maintaining your health and wellbeing.
Support through a life change. For example, leaving full time education.
Getting ready for your visit
We will take time to get to know you and find out how you want to be supported. Together we will develop a plan to meet your needs and help with:
healthcare
leisure activities you enjoy doing
keeping you safe
meeting new people and making friends
living somewhere that matches your needs and brings you happiness
What to expect before your stay
We will contact you before the stay to find out things we need to know about you.
During your stay
You will share accommodation with people who also receive our support.
We will help you decide what you would like to do during the stay.
You will stay in safe, fully equipped accommodation designed for your needs.
What happens after your stay
We will contact you after your stay to make sure you enjoyed your time with us. We will ask how we can make it better for your next stay.
