If you are blind, partially sighted, Deaf, or have hearing loss, we can support you to live independently.
Our sensory team
Our sensory team can help you manage day-to-day life at home and in the community.
We can:
advise on equipment and helpful technology
help you feel confident with everyday tasks and getting around
put you in touch with other services when needed
Support for visually impaired people
We can provide
advice on equipment and changes to your home
training to move around safely indoors and outdoors
support to help you develop practical travel skills, like using a long cane, planning routes, and moving safely on stairs and escalators.
Support for Deaf people
We can offer:
advice on equipment and accessible software
specialised support from our Deaf social worker and hearing impairment support officers.
What we cannot do
We cannot give medical advice or treatment, or provide hearing aids or glasses.
Contact adult social care using British Sign Language (BSL)
If you use BSL, you can contact us using Convo Now. It is a video relay service with a qualified interpreter.
How to use Convo Now
Download Convo Now on a phone, tablet or computer.
In the app, find Lancashire County Council in the Community Directory.
Start the call. The interpreter will help and connect you to the right team.
To get a call back, share your Convo number from the app.
Some reception areas have a Convo Access QR code you can scan to use an interpreter (no app needed.)
