Diane Veronica MANSER died on the 8th November 2025 at the Royal Blackburn Hospital. Mrs MANSER was an inpatient being treated for ineffective exacerbation of longstanding chronic obstructive pulmonary disease when she developed a spontaneous retroperitoneal haemorrhage. Mrs MANSER had been treated with blood thinners due to concerns about pulmonary embolism. The bleeding was treated conservatively with blood transfusions but despite improved blood markers, Mrs MANSER continued to deteriorate. The development of the bleed contributed to Mrs MANSER's inability to overcome the infective exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and thus contributed to her death occurring.

WRATHALL, Dorothy Edith
|
Dorothy Edith WRATHALL died on the 12th January 2026 at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. Mrs WRATHALL had a medical history which included advanced dementia and she lived in a care home. On the 10th January 2026 she had an unwitnessed fall which resulted in a fractured neck of femur. Mrs WRATHALL underwent surgery to repair her femur on the 12th of January 2026 but suffered bone cement implantation syndrome, a known risk of the surgery and died. It is not possible to determine whether an accident or medical difficulty caused Mrs WRATHALL to fall.

ASHWORTH, Michael
|
On 23 November 2025 Michael ASHWORTH was found collapsed at 1 Mitre Street, Burnley having taken a mixture of street and prescription drugs including heroin and cocaine, plus alcohol, against a background of significant coronary atheromatous disease, and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where, despite eventual return of spontaneous circulation after not less than 73 minutes, he continued to deteriorate and died on 25 November 2025.

ROWLEY, Michael John
|
Michael John ROWLEY died on the 28th March 2025 in Blackburn hospital as a result of sepsis caused by bronchopneumonia. He was admitted the day before from his home where he was found in a peri-arrest state. Mr ROWLEY suffered with a number of comorbidities and his mobility had significantly deteriorated over the course of the preceding months, and he was awaiting a visit from his social worker at the time of his death. He had a package of care in place however carers did not call for medical assistance on the 23rd March 2025 when his condition deteriorated. Had this been done it is unlikely Mr ROWLEY would have died when he did.

On 25 December 2025 Kay Lyndsey ANGUS was found collapsed at her home address of 63 Whitegate Close, Padiham having taken heroin and a number of other prescription and illicit drugs against a background of severe Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and despite best efforts she could not be resuscitated.

|
On 5 January 2026 Robert Paul STONEHEWER was found already deceased in the bedroom of his home address at 132 Lowerhouse Lane, Burnley. He had suffered an gastrointestinal bleed and aspiration of gastric content, whilst impaired in cognition and respiratory function as a consequence of taking a significantly higher than therapeutic level of pregabalin, together with codeine.

|
Sam Andrew Matthew TAYLOR died on the 15th January 2026 at the Royal Preston Hospital as a consequence of hypoxic brain injury caused by hanging. Mr TAYLOR had a history of schizophrenia for which he received treatment for. His mental health had deteriorated prior to his death and for this reason it is not possible to determine his intentions at the time at which he secured the ligature.
